BBC Wales: senior 3D generalist/3D supervisor
May 2012 - April 2015
As 3D supervisor at BBC Cardiff I have worked on the flagship television shows Doctor Who and Casualty. I have worked on simulation and photo-realistic scenes and also on modelling, rigging, lighting, animating and rendering. I went on set from time-to-time to assist the VFX supervisor and assess what my team would need to create the end result.
Reporting directly to the VFX supervisor, I have had both creative and technical input in creating the special
effects for each episode, helping ensure that we have achieved brilliant work. The 50th anniversary show of Doctor
Who is a great example of how we overcame many problems to deliver a polished programme.
During my time at the BBC, I have taken the lead in reorganising the 3D department which has become one team working
alongside the 2D compositors and which now communicates well with the other departments. I also reorganised and
managed the hardware in the studio, a task which involved testing and writing reports about the hardware and software
required to improve our workflow. I have managed the render farm using Qube! in collaboration with network technicians.
